In this two day workshop, you’ll master every step,  from pouring molten sterling silver to sanding and polishing your finished ring, all with direct guidance in a max 4 student class. This is high level training made accessible for our East Idaho community, without compromising on tools, materials, or expertise.

Schedule: Day 1 11:00am – 5:00pm

                  Day 2 1:00pm – 5:00pm

 Class Overview:

This workshop is a hands on dive into the world of lost wax casting jewelry! On Day1 you’ll design and carve your own wax ring (no gemstones) while we cover casting fundamentals, safety, and proper sprue placement. We’ll attach the sprue and watch as your piece is invested at the end of the day. Burnout of the flasks start at 5am, so on Day2 we’ll reconvene at 1pm to discuss how to properly calculate the metal needed, cast your ring, and walk through the finishing process. By the end of the class, you’ll have designed, carved, cast and polished your piece.

What We’ll Cover:

Day 1: Carving & Preparations

• Overview of the lostwax casting process, materials and safety.

• Demonstration of basic wax carving tools; design and carve your own ring with guidance (no gemstones).

• Discussion of investment, burnout schedules, casting temperatures and sprue fundamentals.

• Attach your sprue, learn dos and don’ts of placement, and watch your ring being invested before leaving for the day.

Day 2: Casting & Finishing

• Discussion of metal melting temperatures and how they relate to casting success.

• Live casting session at 2pm: melt your metal and pour into the prepared flasks.

• Learn how to cut off sprues, clean and pickle castings, and troubleshoot common casting issues.

• Demonstration of how to remove your spru, sand and polishing.

Included Materials:

• Wax, carving tools, sprue material and investment.

• Up to 10g of sterling silver for casting your item.

• Safety equipment.

You’ll Leave With:

• A solid understanding of the lostwax casting process from start to finish.

• Experience designing and carving your own wax ring and properly attaching a sprue for casting.

• Knowledge of burn out schedules, casting temperatures, metal melting, pouring and troubleshooting.

• Your own sterling silver ring (up to 10g) cast during class.

Open to all levels (must be 16 and up due to sharp tools and hot metal). This class is perfect for beginners with little to no jewelry or wax work experience who want a comprehensive introduction to casting.

I'm SO excited that you're considering my help on your jewelry making journey! 🎉 Before we get started please read the entire section below so you know a little more about the details.

I keep my class sizes small to give you plenty of one-on-one attention which is something that I think makes my classes so effective. For my Introduction To Wax Carving class only, the minimum enrollment is 2 students. If I don’t reach this number, I unfortunately would be operating at a loss and would need to cancel the class. I absolutely understand how inconvenient that is but can guarantee that you will let you know at least 14 days before the class date so you can adjust any travel plans.

If you’re traveling from out of town, I recommend waiting to book flights or non-refundable accommodations until after you receive my Class Confirmation Email, which is sent once the class is officially a go, 14 days in advance.

My goal is to make your class experience smooth, inspiring, and worth every minute — and that starts with clear communication.

Cancellations & Refunds:

  • Cancellations made 14 days or more before the class date: Full refund.

  • Cancellations made 7–13 days before the class date: 50% refund.

  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before the class date: Non-refundable.

  • You may transfer your spot to another person at no additional cost but please just email me their name and information before class.

Minimum Enrollment:
Intro to Wax carving classes require a minimum of 2 to run. If I must cancel due to low enrollment, I will notify you no later than 14 days before the class date. You’ll have the choice of a full refund or credit toward a future class.

Missed Classes:
Due to the small, hands-on format, I cannot offer make-up sessions for missed classes.

Safety & Dress Code:

  • Closed-toe shoes are recommended but not required (I usually don't wear close toes shoes but you know, technicallllyyyy you should. That said, we are all adults, just take care of what you care about).

  • Long hair should be tied back to avoid incidents with rotary tools but same as before, just be careful.

  • Avoid loose clothing.

  • Safety glasses and respirators will be provided but please feel to bring your own if you'd like.

Arrival:
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early (I have a coffee machine and creamer if you'd like to make some coffee) so we can start on time.
